Human prostate cells are typically difficult to convert into continuously growing cultures. This cell line is immortalized without viral oncogenes from prostate stromal cells and may serve as a unique experimental platform to permit several research directions, including the study of cell-cell interactions in an authentic prostate microenvironment, prostate cell differentiation, and most significantly, the complex multistep process leading to prostate cell transformation.   • Format: Frozen
  • Growth medium: Reccomend culture in MCDB-131 medium, supplemented with 15% decalcified horse serum, 10 mM HEPES, pH 7.2, 1% of non-essential amino acids solution, 5 ?g/ml of insulin, 10 ?g/ml of transferrin, 100nM of estradiol, 100 nM of dexamethasone, 5 ng/ml of sodium selenite, 1 ng/ml of basic FGF and 0.1 ng/ml of EGF. Reccomend growth of cultures in a humidified atmosphere of 5% CO2 in air at 37°C. The medium is reccomended to be changed after 1 week and then every 2 to 3 days. PMID:16585177.
